Slums, hunger, misery and no chance of education – such things can sadly still be found, even in the EU. On a trip to Transylvania in 2008, Jenny Rasche was deeply affected by the suffering of children in the slums and decided to help. Today, her charity „Kinderhilfe für Siebenbürgen“ can look back on some notable successes: since 2008, not a single baby has died, the number of children leaving school early has been slashed, no longer do desperate parents feel they have to hand their children over to government institutions, and the risk of drifting into criminality has halved.
Making sense all round
Dinkhauser Kartonagen has thrown all its weight behind this bold project with an Advent calendar. The calendar was lovingly designed by Roma children in Sibiu and contains 24 fine organic teas. In this way, the children were able to contribute to improving their situation and experienced for themselves the value of their own hard work. The entire proceeds of € 4,500 went to Kinderhilfe für Siebenbürgen e.V. Once again this year, there will be a calendar as a beautiful and significant gift with special added value. Every donation is important, and, in Romania, a comparatively modest amount can make a big difference. The children’s aid charity is focusing on relief supplies, the construction of a nursery, school education, help for families and health care.
