Tradition and Vision - our company history
1848, the year Dinkhauser Kartonagen was founded as a bookbindery in Innsbruck, was a turbulent and unsettled year:
Revolutions in Paris, Berlin and Rome lead to the first free elections, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels publish "The Communist Manifesto" in London, in California, discovery of gold triggers the first gold-rush, Mexico looses a third of its territory (California, New Mexico and Arizona) to the United Stated of America and in Austria, Franz Josef I is proclaimed emperor and will reign the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy for 68 years.
Besides its history, each 150-year old company, like ours, can tell a host of tales:
Did you know...
- that in 1894 Dinkhauser Kartonagen, at that time the Royal Austrian-Hungarian bookbindery, was lead by a woman, 25 years before the introduction of universal suffrage?
- that Ferdinand Exl, founder of the "Innsbrucker Kammerspiele" and later director of the "Raimundtheater" in Vienna, was a bookbinder's apprentice at our company - unfortunately or fortunately unsuccessful.
- that our company building is one of the last structures of the well-known Austrian architect Josef Lackner.
Such stories are more than just anecdotes; they influence a company and its culture. Many things have to fall into place for a company to be lead successfully by the same family for such a long period of time. Diligence, steadfastness, vision and the celebration of values in all matters of business as well as the bold and inspiring step into the future are the necessary background for this accomplishment.
150 Years Dinkhauser Kartonagen:
| 2006 | Our new Polyjoiner machine offers new possibilities to our customers. The bonding of different materials leads to new and so far impossible solutions, like Boxanova®. Using combinations of different materials in one product, logistical requirements such as flat-pack delivery, stability, simple filling and handling, as well as the requirements at the POS can be fulfilled by this new product. Ongoing education and training, also honoured by the Government, and ongoing additional investments like company wide humidifiers are important steps in our CIP. The integration of Aristos, as our printing company (www.aristos.at) builds an important component of our packaging competence center. |
| 2005 | Sheets of up to 1600x1100mm can be laminated in the newly acquired laminating machine. This heralds new possibilities for designing displays. The most modern punch press in Austria delivers highest colour register accuracy and additional gains in efficiency. In order to meet future growth a new high rack warehouse, additional shipping stations and production areas are built in the neighbouring building which was bought in 2000.
